Hi! I created this hub to provide some useful information about the new Ab Rocket Twister abdominal exercise machine. It's the "2.0" version of the extremely popular Ab Rocket device that was released in 2007 and I think it will be one of the best-selling infomercial fitness products for 2011 and 2012. Like all "As Seen on TV" products we need to know whether the Ab Rocket Twister actually works, if it's a rip-off, or if it falls somewhere in-between those two extremes. Is there an easy way to do crunches, work your core muscles, and get “six pack” abs fast? We all have tried those back breaking “traditional” ab exercise called sit-ups and crunches that are supposed to tone, tighten, and flatten the abs and stomach area. But with these you usually end up hurting your back and/or straining your neck and giving up before you even really get started.

Well there is a new product out called the AB Rocket Twister that is supposed to allow you to work your abs, obliques, and lower back all at the same time, without pain or strain. It does this by allowing you to do crunches and leg twists in a chair-like support that has padded bars which roll along your back, supposedly eliminating most of the pain and discomfort that comes from doing traditional crunch movements.

Their website boasts that using the AB Rocket Twister is as easy as sitting in and using a rocking chair. I don’t know about that but it definitely looks a lot easier than doing crunches without the machine. The company also guarantees a risk-free trial that says if you are not completely satisfied for any reason simply return it for a full refund within a 30 day period. Sounds pretty good, especially since so many infomercial exercise products really are just rip-offs and scams!

The AB Rocket Twister is a relatively inexpensive product. It’s currently available online for about $165 and comes with free shipping and handling. You can also try it out for just one $14.95 initial payment which gets you the AB Rocket Twister machine, four “fat blasting” DVD workouts, and a low calorie meal plan. Of course you’ll still have to pay the other $150 over the next 3 months.

There is already positive and negative feedback online for this new product. One woman on the website claims to have bought the AB Rocket Twister and says she lost 35 pounds in 5 ½ weeks. Sounds pretty good. But a person in one online forum says that almost all infomercial products sold for under $200 don’t work very well and end up being disappointing to the buyer. He may have a point but, because of today’s ultra-cheap manufacturing processes (thanks China!), it actually is possible to product decent-quality products at very low cost.

Of course, everyone knows that no product, no matter how cheap or expensive, is going to burn off all your fat and make you look like a fitness model. That requires regular, consistent exercise AND dieting over a decent period of time (months not weeks usually). That being said, an ab workout/cardio machine that provides another enjoyable at-home exercise machine -- and that really works -- is never a bad thing.

Personally I am always skeptical of fitness infomercial machines because of negative experiences my family and I have had in the past. In the end all the Ab Rockers, Ab Rollers, Ab Twisters, Ab Circles, Total Gyms, Bowflexes, and TotalAbCircleBos, usually deliver far less than the “miracle” results they promised in their ads. Part of that is definitely the buyer’s fault. I know personally I often wind up getting bored with almost any workout machine within just a couple of weeks and give up on it before it’s really had a chance to work. But the truth is that many of these machines are simply made too cheaply and/or are too uncomfortable to use for any significant period of time!

The Ab Rocket Twister is basically a new and improved version of the original Ab Rocket that came out a few years ago. I know for a fact that that product was extremely popular, at least in North America, and ended up selling hundreds of thousands of units. I was able to use a friend’s Ab Rocket on a few occasions and I actually did enjoy it quite a bit, though I never got around to buying my own (see below for more about the “original” Ab Rocket).
